Kalaloch beach sunset

Before saying anything else I will admit straight up that I used some filters on this photograph. There is a graduated blue and graduated tobacco along with a coral center stripe (the most obvious of the three filters). These were Lee filters mounted on front of the camera. While it may not have been what was in the sky, it is what I saw through the viewfinder.

Unfortunately, all the nights that I was at Kalaloch the sunset was bland at best. This is closer to the sunset that I wanted to see, but didn't. I really prefer it when the sun lights up the bottom of the clouds as it dips under the horizon. Each night, the sky remained a pale blue without a hint of color. A distant fog bank would block out the sun before it could light up the bottoms of the clouds.

Still, its a nice sunset and shows what one can do with some colored grads.

The photograph was shot at f/8 at 35mm on a D200.
